Lets get to know Pastor Marc

Pastor Damarcus Johnson, affectionately called “Pastor Marc”, was born in Montgomery, Alabama and spent most of his formative years in Savannah, Georgia. In 1998, shortly after graduating high school and enrolling at Morehouse College, he began to realize his calling into Christian ministry. After completing coursework at Morehouse and, later, Georgia State University, Pastor Marc ultimately found his academic home at Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, Georgia. He was licensed as a minister in 2005 and ordained into gospel ministry in 2007 at New Life International Family Church (Atlanta, GA).

In 2007, he was married to the former Amy L. Wallace. Shortly thereafter, he and his wife moved to Boston, Massachusetts and attended Morning Star Baptist Church where Pastor Marc served as an Associate Minister under the leadership of Bishop John M. Borders, III. After relocating to North Carolina, Pastor Marc participated in the planting of Cornerstone Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Maurice Wallace and served a short tenure as Associate Pastor of Worship at Cornerstone.

In September 2009, with much prayer and excitement, Life Church (formerly New Life at Chapel Hill) was launched in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Since launching Life Church, Pastor Marc is known for his passion for God’s Word and His people. Pastor Marc and Life Church seek to be a church “made all things to all [people] that, by all means, [we] might save some” (I Corinthians 9:22).

Pastor Marc worked at Duke University for several years. There, he used his career as an avenue for ministry, developing meaningful relationships with several students and staff. Although he has moved on from Duke, he takes special joy in his advisory relationship to many of the Christian students on campus. He currently holds a  Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Ministry as well as a Masters in Apologetics both through Luther Rice Seminary. In his free time, PM enjoys having fun with his wife and their son, Ethan Wallace Johnson.
